Sarah is a fourth year doctoral student in the sport, exercise, and performance psychology PhD and clinical mental health counseling MA programs at West Virginia University, from which she anticipates graduating in December. She also serves as the Director of Mental Performance and Leadership within the athletics department at Lafayette College. In her counseling work with clients, she uses an interdisciplinary approach which integrates aspects of acceptance and commitment therapy, psychodynamic approaches, and polyvagal theory, recognizing the impact of past experiences on present functioning and the role of the nervous system regulation in overall well-being and performance. Sarah has worked with college-aged students across a variety of high-performance contexts experiencing a variety of concerns such as anxiety, perfectionism, burnout, trauma, and body image concerns. Her research has primarily focused on body pressures, body image concerns, and eating pathology in sport contexts.
